About the Media Relations Team
The Media Relations team can help you raise awareness of the Yorkshire Building Society brand and your agency through positive media coverage. We provide support to local agencies by sending out press releases to your local media, websites, radio and TV stations.
Primarily this is done by shouting about fantastic corporate responsibility work such as fundraising for End Youth Homelessness, Charitable Foundation donations, collections for good causes and volunteering.
If you think we can help you, please give us 2-3 weeks’ notice.
Please note you should always contact us if you receive correspondence or a query from a journalist or MP.
What makes a good press release?
- It has to be newsworthy – look at your local newspaper to see the type of stories they are covering.
- Doing something with a purpose i.e. supporting a charitable cause you have links with or a personal reason, rather than ‘just because’.
- Include a photo. Here’s some helpful tips to help you get the best snap.
- Raising awareness of your agency, not others. It may sound simple but if a competitor bank or building society is closing nearby we can help raise awareness of your great work locally in a timely manner, without negatively mentioning the competitors.
